The Cast.
Me- Stephanie. 22 yr old mama to Ashia, Kayleigh and Savannah. I live in SE Michigan..
I work at Comcast.. and there really isnt all that much to say about me..
Larry- 27 yrs old. The husband. Sault Ste. Marie Chippewa Indian tribal member.
Larry and I met when I was 12 or 13. He is my former
best friends uncle. (We are still friends, but just aren't as close as we used to be in jr
high). We lost touch for several years, and then I ran into him in Sault Ste. Marie, MI (300+
miles from home) Labor Day weekend, 1998. We have been together ever since... I
love him dearly.. but I'm still trying to get over the pain he put me through last
June. As crazy as it sounds, our relationship is a million times better now then it ever
was. Larry is a sahd for the most part right now, though he does get occasional carpentry & tree jobs.
Ashia- 9/26/97- 5 1/2 yrs old. I gave birth to Ashia on my 17th birthday. Ashia is the biological
child of Jacob. Jacob has never played a significant role in Ashia's life, and has recently agreed
to allow Larry to adopt her. I refer to Jacob a lot of the time as sd (Sperm Donor) or Jake.
Ashia is in Kindergarten right now, and doing pretty good. She wants to get involved with
Cheerleading next year. She is also a daisy girlscout. Ashia has some behavorial problems, and is
most likely is ADHD and ODD. She has not been officially diagnosed..but I may end up taking her
this summer if the problem persists.
Kayleigh- 5/27/00- 2 1/2 yrs old. Kayleigh was conceived the light after Larry was arrested for a DUI.
(Yes. It sounds terrible. I know. But we are talking about 1999. And he has changed). She is 100%
daddy's little girl. 2 1/2 yrs old and acts every bit her age, but is very sweet and loving most of the
time..though she sure is a trouble maker.. has no desire to be potty trained yet..which to me is quite
frustrating..but we will get their eventually. And is still for the most part, sleeping in the family
bed..also quite frustrating.. things to work on over the next couple of months, perhaps.
Savannah- 7/23/02- 6 mos old. Savannah was finally conceived after 11 months of trying. She is now 6 months
old, and I would say about 20 lbs. She is so close to crawling..and becoming a mobile baby. She is also a
daddy's girl.
My Fam
Steve- aka the one I call DAD. He has always been a wonderful father to me. He raised my brother and I on his
own after he and my mom divorced in 1990. He has always been supportive to me, even if he disapproved. He always
goes out of his way to help me if I need it, to tell me how proud he is of me, and to cheer me up if I am down.
I have been blessed with a wonderful, wonderful father.
Sue- aka Mom. Her and I do not get a long. We don't see each other much, even though her boyfriend lives in Ypsi.
She lives in Toledo. She travels a ton and likes to rub it in my face. Just your typical gold digging mom I guess.
Bill- aka my younger brother. He is 17, a senior in high school, and will be attending EMU next fall to obtain an
elementary teaching certificate.. I'm proud of him, even though he can be an asshole most of the time.
Larry's Fam:
Don- aka Larry's dad, FIL. Don is a wonderful man with a big heart. He took Ashia and I into the family as his granddaughter
and daughter from the very beginning, even though she wasn't biologically Larry's, and we weren't married yet. Don is a wondeful
father and grandfather and even great grandfather. He struggled with alcoholism in the past, but has been clean for 20 yrs now.
He resides on Sugar Island, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
Darlene- aka Larry's mom. Darlene passed away during heart surgery in 1995. Larry and Darlene were extremely close. He still
has a hard time accepting that she is gone. I met Darlene on a couple of occasions when I was younger, and she was a wonderful
woman, who was good to her family. May she continue to rest in peace.
Chevon- aka Chev, Larry's oldest sister, SIL. Chev is the mother to Christy (my best friend in jr high) age 23, Shawna (the neice
who is having health problems) age 22, Joseph, age 6, and Marcus, age 6 mos. She is grandmother to Amya. (Shawna's 2 1/2 yr old daughter.)
She resides on Sugar Island, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
Donnie- aka Donald, Larry's oldest brother, BIL. Donnie is the brother that Larry is closest to. Together, with Donnies wife, they
formed Jewell Brothers Tree Service. Donnie and his wife Angela have been TTC for 5 years, with no success. They have been approved
for and adoption from the tribe. They reside in Redford, MI.
Harry- aka Larry's middle brother, BIL. Harry is married to my SIL Lisa, who has helped us out tremendously. Together they have 3 children:
Ashley (19, Married to Donnie, mother of Lili, who is 1 mo) Brandon, 18 and Casey, 14. They live in Maybee, MI.
Deanna- aka Larry's other sister, Dee, SIL. Dee and her husband Steve are practicing Jehovah's Witness. Together they have two children,
Noah (6), and Elise (4). The live in Maynardville, TN.
Rodger- aka Larry's little brother, BIL. Rodger has been in quite a bit of trouble with the law in the past (hell, all of the Jewell boys have..)
and has been out of jail for almost a year. He is currently engaged to Nichelle. Together, they have two children: Ashton (2 1/2) & Carlyon (1 mo).
Also living in the household is Jocelyn, who is 5, Nichelles daughter from a previous relationship. Rodger also has a daughter, Darlene (6) who lives in
Garden River, Ontario. Rodger and Nichelle reside in Kincheloe, MI.
The friends:
James- James has been one of my best friends since we were 15. Our friendship has definitely had its ups and downs..and at one point, I could have
swore I was in love with him. We fooled around a bit before he decided he was gay. I seem to have that effect on men. Sometimes I worry
about James terribly, but I know that I can not protect him from himself. I wish I saw him more often.
Sandor- Sandor has been one of my best friends since we were 16. See explanation above for James..and you can apply the same words to describe Sandor.
Ryanne- Ryanne and I met in the U of M child psychiatric unit in May, 1996. We have been friends since. I don't get to see Ryanne very often, but
she has always been there for me, even when I wasn't being a great friend to her. She always gives great advice, and goes out of her way, at times, to
show that she does care. I wish she lived closer.
Koleen- no longer a friend, but I felt that it was important that I mention her. Koleen and I were best friends from 1995-2002, when I found she was
having an affair with my husband. I miss her incredibly, but I still resent her. I doubt that we will ever be friends again, but sometimes I wish
that we were. She was my maid of honor in my wedding.
Mari- I used to refer to Mari as my best friend. She was an incredible mama to her children, and always would lend an ear, and try to help me through
my problems, even if her life was havoc. Unfortunately, Mari has wandered far off the beaten path. I pray for her and her children.. I hope that some
day she is able to get her life back in order, and that we can be friends again.
Kristy- One of my best online friends.. wish I knew her IRL. Kristy helped me immensely in dealing with the affair. She spent hours online consoling
me through the most difficult time in my life. Though we don't always agree with some parenting issues, she is a great person to talk to and gives
great, honest advice. Kristy is a strong, independent woman. She is the mama to 4 beautiful little girls, and has one on the way. I can only hope
to be as good of a friend to her as she has been to me...
Hillary- another one of my best online friends..whom I also wish I knew IRL. Hillary is also a great advice giver, very straight forward, and honest.
Another strong, independent woman, and mama to 2 sweet little girls, Kathryn & Kiara. You can apply my last sentence for Kristy to Hillary as well.
SD's family:
I know this is going to seem odd to people, but I felt it was slightly important to explain a little bit about SD's family.
Joann- The wife. Possibly a new friend of mine. She is the mother to Chase and Jazmin. (Who technically are Ashia's half
brother and sister.) I feel terrible for the way Jake treats her. She is a wonderful woman and I have found out recently that
we have a lot in common.
Chase- Jake's 2 1/2 yr old son with Joann.
Jazmin- Jake's 1 1/2 yr old daughter with Joann.
Audrey- Jake's ex. Mother to Dylan. (Ashia's other half brother)
Dylan- I cant recall exactly, but I think Dylan is now 8 yrs old. Jake's firstborn son with Audrey.
